FETAC Certified First Aider:
 

 

A 3-day in-company or public Certificated Training Course. 

Also, 1-day Re-Certification Course


FETAC Certified
The course, which is conducted as a Public Course or at the client's site, meets the requirements of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act, 2005, General Application Regulations 2007, the HSA Guidelines on First-Aid at Places of Work (May 2008) and of insurance companies.  It is also FETAC Certified.
 

AIM & OBJECTIVES
To teach Participants about basic First-Aid Procedures for use in the Workplace and in the Home.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Mature individuals capable of measured and calm response to a crisis situation.
 

PROGRAMME
As we are always pleased to customise the Programmes, the specific course content will depend on you particular work hazards, location, etc.
The programme will, in any case, include...

  • What is First Aid

  • Action at an Emergency – assessment & accident scene management

  • Respiration & Asphyxia

  • The Sequence of CPR

  • Disorders of Airways & Breathing

  • Disorders of Circulation

  • Wounds & Bleeding

  • Bites & Stings

  • Burns & Scalds

  • Disorders of Consciousness

  • Effects of Heat & Cold

  • Bone, Joint & Muscle Injuries – fractures, sprains, strains & dislocations

  • Poisoning/Chemicals

  • Electric shock

  • Miscellaneous Conditions – diabetes, epilepsy, asthma.

  • Crush & Spinal Injuries

  • Competence Testing [by a second & independent Occupational First-Aid instructor]

The Course, which emphasises practical skills throughout, provides approx. 21 hours of training, including 2 hours examination.
 

LOCATION & DURATION

This is a 3-day course, which is delivered on site at the participant’s place of work and using your own equipment.  The programme can be delivered in half-day modules or at a weekend if work requirements so demand.
 

CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS

This Course is delivered by a Certified Occupational First-Aid Instructor and examination administered by a second certified Instructor. 
Under their joint authority Certification for this Course is issued.
 

CERTIFICATION - FETAC AWARD

All participants who successfully complete this course, including practical and written demonstration of the competencies learned, will receive Occupational First-Aiders Certificates of 2-year’s validity [as per new HSA Guidelines].
