This course, which meets the requirements of the Abrasive Wheels Regulations, 1982 and the associated HSA Code of Practice for Working in Confined Spaces, 2001, gives training in identifying and understanding the nature, hazards and risks associated with working with pedestal and hand-held grinders and cutters.
AIM & OBJECTIVES To ensure the safe and proper use of abrasive wheels & grinders, including... Grinding machines with high-speed abrasive wheels can burst and fly, so it is necessary to ensure that the person that mounts wheels is trained in the safe use of these machines. Eye protection is essential. The clamping nut on power tools should be tight enough to hold the wheel firmly, guards should be fitted properly and wheels should be warmed up before work to avoid shock heating and bursting. Floor mounted or pedestal drills should be fitted with a telescopic chuck guard.

DEMONSTRATION BY TRAINEESEach trainee will be required to demonstrate the safe use of a Grinding Wheel to confirm that the correct methods have been learned. LOCATION & DURATIONThis four hour course is usually delivered on site at the participant’s place of work and using your own equipment. The programme can be delivered at a weekend if work requirements so demand. |
